Dinamic Test of Retention System ECE-22
 |
To test the efficiency of the helmet retention system. Designed and manufacture to meet ECE22.05 regulation. Can be adapted to other Standards. Operated by either Cadex Software or Touch screen controller technology.
It is recommended that all our testing equipment be used in ideal working
conditions (18 - 29 degrees C and less than 65% humidity).

The head form support can be raised or lowered up to 10 inches (25.4cm).
The ECE-22 is operated by an air cylinder that moves the drop mass device (10
Kgs) to the drop height desired of 0.6 meter ( 60 Cm ). It supports the use of
different sized head forms, helmet geometry, size's, and various lengths of
webbings. By having an adjustable supporting arm you can adapt all kinds of
helmets to the ECE-22 and respect drop heights requested by many different
standards.
-
The hook holder device of the helmet support can be moved forwards and
backwards to position the alignment to complete the helmet positioning before
executing the test.
The red button is used to lock the hook system in place. To remove the hook,
simply pull the red button towards you. Pushing the button back will secure the
hook helmet support back into place.
-
The
EN 960 full Urethane head form (sold separately). This head
form conforms to the ECE-22 requirements EN 960 and is available in various
sizes. All the head forms come in different weights and sizes. To meet the
pre-load requisite of the ECE standards of 15 Kg, a dedicated ring is made for
each size of head form. This ensures that they are all the same mass when
attached to the machine main frame guiding system.
-
The head form attachment device has a red button that is used to lock or
unlock the device in place. This gives the operator the ability of easily
removing and replacing the complete head form with helmet from the machine.
-
The handle command control's the pneumatic air cylinder in the back of
the machine. It has a UP, Neutral and Down position and is used to modify the
height of the release mechanism.
-
The release system sends the command that drops the mass from the top to
the down position in order to perform the impact test on the helmet. The button
must be pressed for a few seconds to give the machine time to react to the drop
command.
-
The release mechanism of the machine is used to retain the drop mass of
10 kg in place before the test.
-
The air entry outlet for compressed air. The machine will need to be
connected to a compressor to work properly. The pressure should be between 80
PSI (min) and 150 PSI (max). That air entry device has a small container that
accumulates water that is separated to avoid any moisture getting into the air
line system of the machine. The container needs to be emptied manually, so it
is important to keep track of the water level of the container. Simply press
the release water button on the water receiver bottle to have the water
evacuate the device.
-
The bottom pedal is used to move the guiding system UP. This makes it
easier to remove or re-install the complete head form with helmet from the
machine. It is also recommended that you remove the drop mass on the UP
position with your pneumatic device (section 4, 11, 12) so you will have less
weight to carry during this process.
-
The main frame of the drop assemble guiding system of the machine. This
section includes the bottom stopper support, long rod guide as well as head
form attachment. The complete main guiding support with all the parts that
represent the pre-load of the helmet prior the test should be 15 kg (including
the head form). To make sure that all head forms (regardless of size or weight)
respect the 15 Kg specification an additional ring that comes with each head
form can be installed.
-
The pneumatic air cylinder allows the drop mass to be moved up or down.
The air cylinder will need a minimum air pressure as described in section 7.
-
This lever allows you to lower or raise the head form support (section
1).
-
The power conditioning unit of the sensor device. This unit needs to be
connected to a 115 VAC/60Hz or 220VAC/50Hz power source. The sensor and the
electronic conditioner box connect to this device. A BNC connector output is
also required to connect to a computer system in order to measure the real time
displacement. Cadex Acquisition software has been developed to monitor this
signal system.
-
Important notice : The supporting legs are adjustable and should be used to make sure
guiding system is level. The guiding system is the most important part of the
machine so it will be more important to make sure it is level, rather than the
machine frame.
